Software Engineer, Protocols and Applications


Salira Systems is a leader in developing EPON systems.  We make broadband access systems that combine the simplicity of Ethernet with the power of fiber optics to deliver advanced voice, video and data services.  Ethernet simple, Fiber fast.

We are presently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.  The Senior Software Engineer will be involved in the development of Salira's EPON system projects and mainly responsible for embedded protocols/applications design and development.

The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of development experience, previously up to technical lead position, and strong C++/Linux/Networking/Telecom development experience in the application/protocol functional areas. The candidate should have full cycle development experience, not just sustaining (bug fixes) or incremental implementation experience. Ideally, the candidate should have LOCAL working experience in one of the major telecom/network equipment vendors, and have MS/CS degree.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Applications in embedded Linux
  • Experience in broadband access communication systems (preferably point-to-multipoint - cable DOCSIS, wireless, optical - PON)
  • C++ and Object Oriented design

Other requirements (at least 3 items in the following):

  • Experience with VoIP telephony

Senior Software Engineer, Protocols and Applications

We are presently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.  The Senior Software Engineer will be involved in the development of Salira’s EPON system projects and mainly responsible for embedded SNMP agent (NetSNMP based multi-agent & multi-thread software) re-design and development, including design, documentation, coding, testing, debugging, and bug fixing. The engineer will also be involved in the development of other application modules supported in the platform software.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer with a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • C++ and Object Oriented design knowledge
  • SNMP agent development experience.  Net-SNMP a plus.
  • Experience in embedded real-time systems (i.e. VxWorks)
  • Experience on network management for internet equipment.
  • Familiar with network protocols, such as TCP/UDP/IP, HCP, ICMP, etc.

SQA Engineer (WiFI)

We are presently looking for a SQA Engineer to join our System Verification Team. The SQA Engineer will design and execute test programs and verify functionality of our triple play broadband access communication products.  The engineer will manage automated and manual testing, perform functional and regression testing, develop and execute test plans, test cases and test suites, troubleshoot issues, generate test reports and bug reports and track bug fixes.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5-10+ years experience as a SQA Engineer or Lead in an embedded Linux, VxWorks environment
  • Experience with generation and execution of test plans, test cases and test suites and generation of test reports
  • Experience with testing SNMP managed equipment, tools and procedures of command test scripts

Senior Product Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert in Carrier Ethernet technologies and market trends, especially new standards work at MEF, IEEE and ITU as it relates to Carrier Ethernet
  • Conducting competitive analysis.
  • Work with product management on launch plans and strategies
  • Help product management in developing and managing product line roadmap
  • Articulate product strengths, positioning, messaging and selling strategies
  • Preparation of sales and marketing collateral

Technical Marketing Engineer

We are presently looking for a Technical Marketing Engineer who is an intelligent and highly-motivated individual with a passion for delivering quality work using cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced and fun team environment. This individual’s primary role is to study relevant technologies and provide competitive analysis for both internal and external consumption.  White papers, articles, technical presentations and other supporting content will be major deliverables. Secondary responsibilities include possible technical customer training in support of new and existing customer deployments.  As such, occasional travel to customer sites may be needed.
Required General Skills:

  • Computer science or Electrical Engineering college degree.

Account Executive

We are presently looking for an Account Executive to join our team. The Account Executive will develop multi-level and multi-functional relationships from senior executives to regional technicians, create strategic account/business plans, provide detailed reporting and manage weekly/monthly/quarterly forecasts.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Evangelize Salira’s value proposition to the MSO and translate Salira’s technology products into innovative solution sets with developed and sound business cases that effectively persuade the SP to invest in these products/services with Salira.
  • Translate a business or service concept from idea to launched product within the SP customer.
  • Build highly effective internal relationships.

Requirements:
  • Must have Bachelor degree or equivalent and 5+ years in sales with a track record of success in selling highly technical solutions to MSOs.
  • Must be able to manage simultaneously the sales cycle of both long-term strategic solutions and short-term revenue opportunities.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, passionate, and thrive in dynamic environments and have success in go-to-market execution in carrier environments.
  • Must be extremely articulate with strong presentation skills and comfortable in presenting in front of all levels and functions within MSO environments.
