Press Releases SALIRA TO DEMONSTRATE FIRST INTELLIGENT EPON ACCESS SYSTEM AT SUPERCOMM SUPERCOMM, Atlanta, GA June 4, 2002 "Service providers are looking for ways to preserve their current sources of revenue from TDM services. The solution of choice is one that enables them to maintain these services as they evolve their networks to IP-based infrastructures," said Tom Walsh, vice president of marketing and sales at Salira. "At SUPERCOMM we are displaying the first intelligent EPON access system to support both Native Mode TDM and IP-based services in a system that was designed specifically for the business." The demonstration showcases the Salira 2000 platform, which consists of the Salira 2500, the industry's highest port density optical line terminal, and the Salira 2300, the first multi-customer optical network unit. The platform is driven by the Salira Access Operating System (AOS), the extensible software engine that delivers the hybrid capability to handle both TDM and Packet-based traffic. Representative applications include analog voice, Voice over IP (VoIP), FTP, streaming video, Internet access and network-based meeting and collaboration tools. The company is also demonstrating the Salira Access Management system, a unique system that combines service creation, subscriber management, and Element Management System (EMS) capabilities in an intuitive and integrated software suite.
