SALIRA
TO DEMONSTRATE FIRST INTELLIGENT EPON ACCESS SYSTEM AT SUPERCOMM
SUPERCOMM, Atlanta, GA June 4, 2002
Salira Optical Network Systems, Inc., a leading provider of
optical access systems, is unveiling the Salira 2000 Platform™
today at SUPERCOMM (Hall B, Booth #22416), with the first
public demonstration of concurrent Native Mode TDM applications
and IP-centric voice, video and data applications running
on an EPON platform.
"Service providers are looking for ways to preserve
their current sources of revenue from TDM services. The solution
of choice is one that enables them to maintain these services
as they evolve their networks to IP-based infrastructures,"
said Tom Walsh, vice president of marketing and sales at Salira.
"At SUPERCOMM we are displaying the first intelligent
EPON access system to support both Native Mode TDM and IP-based
services in a system that was designed specifically for the
business."
The demonstration showcases the Salira 2000 platform, which
consists of the Salira 2500, the industry's highest port density
optical line terminal, and the Salira 2300, the first multi-customer
optical network unit. The platform is driven by the Salira
Access Operating System (AOS), the extensible software engine
that delivers the hybrid capability to handle both TDM and
Packet-based traffic. Representative applications include
analog voice, Voice over IP (VoIP), FTP, streaming video,
Internet access and network-based meeting and collaboration
tools.
The company is also demonstrating the Salira Access Management
system, a unique system that combines service creation, subscriber
management, and Element Management System (EMS) capabilities
in an intuitive and integrated software suite.
