| Salira 2000 Platform
Support a wide variety of service types
while keeping costs low
The Salira 2000 platform is an entry-level Ethernet Passive
Optical Network (EPON) architecture suitable for telecommunications
carriers, service providers, and large enterprises. Unlike
basic EPON, the Salira 2000 platform supports individualized
service level agreements, native-mode TDM, and QoS capabilities.
These features let carriers design multiple tiers of service
for their customers—thereby increasing revenues. And
they allow enterprises to offer different types of service
for different business needs—improving infrastructure
responsiveness and minimizing IT costs.

Key Components
Optical Line Terminals (OLTs)—The
OLT resides in the carrier’s central office or an IT
department’s network center. Each OLT can support up
to 1792 ONU connections, depending on the geographic distribution
of your customer base. The Salira 2000 provides two OLTs—the
Salira 2500 and the smaller, more compact
Salira 2550.
Optical Network Units (ONUs)—The ONU
provides optical to electrical (O-E) and electrical to optical
(E-O) conversion between the fiber and the copper wires that
reach homes and offices. Multiple version of the Salira
2300 ONUs are available
to meet a wide variety of service needs.
